The carrier rocket Ariane 5 put two satellites into orbit
The launch vehicle Ariane 5, launched from the Kourou cosmodrome in French Guiana, successfully brought into orbit two communication satellites - the British HYLAS 4 and the Japanese DSN-1 / Superbird-8.
This is reported by the company operator of the cosmodrome Arianespace, which conducted a live broadcast of the launch on its website.
The launch took place on April 5 at 18:34 local time (00:34 Moscow time on Friday). The start was the third from this site since the beginning of the year.
Ariane 5 - European carrier rocket, designed to bring cargo to the low Earth's near-Earth orbit. It was spent on its development for about 10 years and $ 7 billion.
The Guiana Space Center is a European cosmodrome located near the city of Kourou in French Guiana (department of France in South America). Its location near the equator provides a 15% advantage over the payload in comparison with the launches in the east direction from the American cosmodrome at Cape Canaveral and 40% at the launches from the Baikonur cosmodrome. Since the beginning of the 70s of the last century, the SCC has been used to launch space vehicles with the Ariane rocket-propellant. The spaceport is used in the interests of joint European space programs.
